Veeco is looking for a Quality Engineer to drive improvements in supplier performance, manufacturing, operations and customer satisfaction. This is an opportunity to work closely with senior management and high energy peers in a collaborative environment where you can have significant influence on both product performance and customer satisfaction. This position requires successful interaction with all Business Unit functions to understand, manage, develop, simplify and improve processes using the entire basket of quality engineering skills. Responsibilities:
Utilize key performance metrics in support of data based decision making. Deploy and develop quality tools and processes for gathering data, reporting on metric performance, determining and driving opportunities for improvement by initiating and leading corrective action teams in support of Veeco's MOCVD business unit.
Minimize variation in quality business processes through the development, improvement and training of Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions designed to reduce variability and improve quality in Veeco's products and
services
.
Partner with key contract manufacturers and suppliers to improve their quality performance resulting in improved operational results, reduced costs of poor quality, and reduced risk of quality excursions.
Lead Root Cause Corrective Action teams, utilizing the 8D process to ensure that corrective actions are effectively identified and driven to closure, and that learning from 8D's is effectively propagated to maximize the value of this disciplined problem solving approach.
Support change control processes through effective planning, qualification and communications (internal and external) designed to mitigate risk to Veeco and its customers.
Support systemic continuous improvement of both product quality and systems quality, leveraging best practices to enable Veeco to achieve the highest quality and customer satisfaction in its products and services.
Support ISO 9001 certification through execution of quality audits and implementation of well executed Corrective and Preventive Actions.
Enable timely and effective resolution and communications in support of customer impactful issues.
Utilize DMAIC (6? or Six Sigma) process in support of continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline and at least 5 years of experience as a Quality Engineer supporting the manufacturing operations of high technology tools, subassembiles, or components
Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ Quality Engineer, ASQ Quality Auditor certifications are highly preferred
Travel both domestic and international (10% target)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
History of successfully partnering with internal operations, key suppliers and critical contract manufacturers to achieve objectives on time and on target to deliverables.
Comfortable working in a matrix environment executing against business unit demands while delivering to corporate objectives.
Initiative, superior problem solving skills, results oriented, good decision maker, excellent analytically, extremely well organized, assertive, and a team player with situational sensibility.
A history of effectively identifying root cause and implementing corrective actions utilizing 8D methodology.
Experience in support of prime quality initiatives such as ISO 9001, LEAN, 6?, 5S, and TQM is a plus.



Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
