This critical financial leader acts as a strategic business partner with a focus on driving expense reduction, gross margin improvements and top line performance, managing and forecasting revenue, analyzing and controlling research and development spending and other operating expenses. This position also supports the functional leaders of technology, engineering, marketing, and finance to assemble metrics packages, monthly and quarterly business review forecasts and presentations, and other executive management reports. The position reports to the Senior Controller for Veeco's MOCVD business unit and is located in Somerset, NJ.
Owns and manages annual capital and operating expense budgeting process with a focus on capital/equipment and global facility/headcount budgeting.
Leads and drives monthly and quarterly forecasting and variance analysis/reporting process.
Participates in month end close activities by providing R&D; capital and operating spending analysis.
Responsible for developing and managing R&D; capital expenditure budgets and tracking capital/equipment approval process; contributes analysis and prepares presentations for business unit and executive management review.
Develops, tracks and reports business and financial metrics to business unit (BU) General Manager and his senior staff; provides financial education and transparency to business partners and cross-functional teams.
Business partner, mentor and liaison between BU, Corporate and international teams.
Drives process improvement for planning and reporting processes. Reviews current forecasting process, models, and procedures, recommends and implements improvements.
Participates with BU management team to develop L/T strategic plan and objectives.
Supports business development activities, product roadmap initiatives, competitor analysis and other ad hoc strategic financial analysis.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline; MBA strongly preferred
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in a complex, high-tech manufacturing environment; semiconductor capital equipment industry experience highly desirable.
At least five years of experience in a managerial role.
Advanced knowledge of accounting systems, preferably SAP (including Business Objects) and/or Hyperion or Cognos; excellent computer and modeling skills.
Excellent cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to execute and drive the strategic decision-making process through influence and advisement.
Strategic business partner with positive attitude and strong orientation for teamwork; ability to maintain good working relationships with co-workers, functional leaders and employees at all levels within the Company.
High integrity. Capable of managing through conflict and influencing others as appropriate. Demonstrates effective managerial and supervisory skills.
Proven track record in leading FP&A; activities and supporting R&D; expense forecasting
Experience with project reporting and operational accounting and reporting, ideally in a large multinational company.
Self-motivated, energetic performer with experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
