Someone who has worked in Data Centers, who understands that is it a physical job lift up to 50-70lbs, ladders, running cables etc. It is an implementation job (rolling out changes) comfortable working alone, job is in Somerset NJ
Good spot for someone with 2 to 7 years experience.must have Data Center experience and TCP/IP and good networking experience and be mature to handle the working hours. All the rest below is good to have but not a mustthey will train you on stuff you dont know if you are good.
Operations/Network Engineer - Full Time Permanent position for company in Somerset, NJ
Salary Range 55k to 80k range. DOE plus great benefits, room to grow and very nice down to earth normal folks.
Travel: Must be able to travel. Must have valid passport. Shift pattern
Tuesday Friday 10:30 19:00
Saturday 08:00 17:00
Off Sunday/Monday
Implementing new Cisco, Juniper, Redhat and Solaris based systems
Building and configuring of Cisco/Juniper routers and switches
Configuring of Checkpoint, Cisco ASA and PIX firewalls
Server builds using build process, Solaris Jumpstart, Redhat installation and post Jumpstart configurations
Racking and cabling of hardware in production data centres
Implementing connectivity to Clients and hosted exchanges
Dealing with internal and external clients
Assisting where required with Data Centre live environment issues to completion
Responding to Data Centre monitoring systems and issues raised by clients or internal departments
Maintaining hardware and implementation documentation against the configuration
Overseeing the access and work of third parties in the production data centres General Information
The role holder will be expected to perform any other duties that may reasonably be asked of them
A thorough understanding of TCP/IP
Good knowledge of UNIX / Networking
Knowledge of firewall rules
Experience of Network monitoring e.g. PRTG, Nagios
Solaris & Redhat skills, Basic scripting, Solaris zones/Linux KVM
Data Centre hardware maintenance, HP, Oracle experience
Familiar with MS Office - Outlook, Excel, and Word
Clear, accurate and concise written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical skills with good attention to detail
Good time management and planning skills
Organised and able to use initiative to prioritise work and able to adapt to changing workload priorities
Takes ownership of delegated tasks and sees things through to completion
Enthusiastic and highly motivated
Calmness under pressure and ability to remain focussed on service
Ability to create and maintain strong working relationships
Experience of configuring CheckPoint, Cisco ASA and PIX firewalls, Juniper MX and SRX range
Cisco CCNA qualification or Juniper JCNIA qualification is Preferred.
Extensive proven experience in TCP/IP
Server building Solaris / Redhat
